Home Insurance

Being one of your most important assets, your home should be insured adequately to protect it against any mishaps that might occur to it. In fact you should have enough insurance to rebuild your home in the event it is completely destroyed.

There are many different areas that should be included in home insurance like coverage of your home and its contents against damage caused by flooding or an earthquake for instance. Home insurance can also protect you, the owner, in the unfortunate scenario of someone getting injured in your home while visiting you.

In difficult times when economizing takes precedence,  do not cut corners with your building insurance but do your research to find insurers who provide adequate coverage but at a lower cost.

Tips for Home Insurances

  • Read the small print to know exactly what is covered in your policy. If you own expensive jewelry or other high value items ensure these are also covered in the policy.
  • Get a home inspection done to help you decide how much cover you need. For those who live in areas prone to disasters like earthquakes or floods, take out a policy that provides cover for such disasters.
  • Take time to compare home insurance provided by a number of different providers. Choose one that gives you the best coverage while being the most competitive
  • Review the policy annually so that the insurer is aware of any changes that have occurred in your personal circumstances and includes them in the policy.
  • Keep your home secure to prevent the risk of theft or vandalism to your home. Secure measures will contribute to the successful outcome of a claim.
